Shaping the entrepreneurial development process

Why we need ART on the journey

Two art exhibitions I visited lately reminded me about the different functions of Art and why dealing with it is enlightening. I start with Gottfried Helnwein, “Realität und Fiktion” (Reality and Fiction) at the Albertina Museum.

Helnwein pictures are an "Accusation of cruelty and mercilessness as well as the terror of fascism", as the media release of Albertina states. While modifying the size, the images develop from a surrealistic first impression to a symbol. The artwork presents itself in technical perfection. Considering the profoundness of Helnweins arguments and its current relevance, I consider this aspect between creativity and technical perfection as key. From my point of view, this aspect of Helnweins art can be transferred into an entrepreneurial context.

Entrepreneurial Excellence for credibility and mindfulness

What drives entrepreneurship? It is the desire to bring visions to live, to form a business which is sustainable from different perspectives. Here comes excellence into play. Obviously, performance in operations is key, but it needs more before we start implementing. To reach commercial success, we have to position our business in a creative way which stands out but still is understandable for the target group. Following our values, beliefs and considering business capabilities, we enter the journey of visions becoming tangible market offerings.

In this entrepreneurial development process, the artistic personality of Helnwein gives direction. It guides us along the journey (process…) of developing the business: Change perspective, build something familiar while making it unrecognizable, use different forms of creativity but mainly: credibility and mindfulness is reached with excellence in execution.
